Scholarship Summary
The Susan Groenwald Nursing Leadership Scholarship aims to provide scholarships to students who exhibit a strong desire to succeed despite personal hardships and who are dedicated to assisting underserved populations.
For more than 40 years, Susan Groenwald, PhD, RN, ANEF, FAAN, has embodied leadership and innovation in nursing, higher education and business. Serving as the president of Chamberlain University from 2006 to 2018 she expanded Chamberlain College of Nursing's reach in healthcare education by extending the footprint from one campus to 21 sites in 15 states. She spearheaded growth in enrollment moving from 400 to 31,000 students. Thanks to her extraordinary contributions, Chamberlain University is one of the largest nursing schools in the country. Celebrating her accomplishments and lifelong passion for nursing, the Chamberlain University Board of Trustees in partnership with the Empower Scholarship Fund, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, created this scholarship in honor of Susan and in support of Chamberlain's aspiring nurses.
Details
Four (4) scholarships valued up to $2,000 each will be awarded to eligible students currently enrolled at Chamberlain University in both the spring and fall award cycles.
Eligibility
- Student will have completed the Step Up to Success Seminar at Chamberlain University
- Student will be currently enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at Chamberlain University
- Student will have completed at least 6 credit hours at Chamberlain University
- Student will have shown a commitment to assisting underserved populations
- Student will have exhibited a strong desire to achieve success despite hardships
- Student will have exhibited an active utilization of available school resources as well as participation in school-based organizations
Requirements
- Application completely filled out
- Letter of Recommendation from a faculty member (preferred) or healthcare professional
- Essay Question: (answer with no more than 500 word response)
