“Today marked one of the most fulfilling moments of my medical school journey so far. Not only did I have the honor of fulfilling my role as President of the Honor and Service Society by delivering a speech for the Faculty Appreciation Awards during the Academic Excellence Ceremony, but I also received the wonderful news about being awarded this scholarship. The greatest joy came from hearing my mother and grandparents feel so deeply moved and proud. Knowing that my academic achievements and community contributions are being recognized in this way will fuel the discipline and dedication that guide my path."

"My journey towards becoming a nurse began with my grandmother, a dedicated nurse for over 60 years, and my baby sister, who was born with Trisomy 18. Together, they have inspired me to pursue a career in pediatric nursing. My grandmother's unwavering commitment to her profession has always stood out to me. Throughout her career, she has not only provided compassionate care to her patients but has also served as a mentor to countless aspiring nurses. I strive to embody the same values of empathy and excellence that she has exemplified throughout her life. I aspire to become a pediatric nurse, specializing in caring for children with complex medical needs. I want to be that lifeline for families facing overwhelming challenges, just as the nurses were for my sister and our family. I believe that every child deserves access to quality healthcare and a chance at a fulfilling life, regardless of their medical circumstances."

"What inspired me to become a nurse stem from the most meaningful experience I have ever lived through. In 2018, my friend's newborn son was diagnosed with a liver disease. Although he remained stable until he was 2 years old, his conditioned worsened with time and he was listed for a liver transplant. I had complete peace in my heart that I wanted to get tested to see if I was a match for him as a donor. After months of rigorous medical testing, I wasn't chosen to be his donor, but the medical team asked if I'd be willing to do be an altruistic donor instead. In July 2021, I received a call from my donor team that they had found a perfect match, and I became a living donor to a baby girl who was in liver failure. I don't believe anything can fully prepare you to go through the experience of living donation. Although I didn't know my recipient at the time of surgery, I would remind myself that there was another family on the other side of my journey who were going through a difficult time and that this was a day of hope that would change their lives forever. I want to do what I can to help that patient population as a nurse. For me, most importantly, that's a continuation of how I can love those around me."

"When I think about why I chose nursing, it always comes down to a deep-rooted love for helping others. I truly believe that the smallest gestures - a kind smile, a listening ear, a comforting presence - can be powerful. I've always been moved by the idea that a single moment of kindness can change a person's day, and in nursing, I see the chance to be that for someone every day. To me, nursing isn't just a job; it's a calling that fulfills me in ways words can't fully capture. Knowing that my actions, no matter how small, can ease someone's pain or bring them comfort gives my life meaning and purpose. My goal after graduation is to carry this compassion into my career as an Intensive Care Unit Nurse, and hopefully transition into becoming a Flight nurse, to make an impact on each person I meet, and to honor the trust they place in me. I want to be a nurse who brings a little light to patients' lives, just as my choice of this path has brought so much light into mine."

“Animals exemplify the saying, "What you see is what you get" which is a trait I find beautiful. As a veterinarian, I will cherish the opportunity to promote the health and longevity of the loving relationships between owners and their pets. I will also be an advocate and voice for animals. I aspire to rescue many more animals and guide them toward a safe and loving life. I plan to give back to my community through outreach programs that educate pet owners about animal welfare and health, provide affordable care, and increase awareness of animal abuse. Through these initiatives, I hope to earn the trust of both animals and their owners, enhancing the human-animal bond and seeing many more tails wag in joy "

“From a young age, I've had a deep love for animals, particularly large animals. I have developed a strong interest in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, which aligns with my vision of an integrative veterinary practice. My goal after graduation is to establish a mixed practice specializing in both small animals and horses, emphasizing holistic care. By blending conventional and alternative treatments, I aim to promote health, prevent disease, and provide comprehensive care to animals. Ultimately, I want to help improve animal health and well-being, contributing to the advancement of veterinary medicine and the overall welfare of animals in our society."

“Growing up in an orphanage for several years before being adopted gave me a unique perspective on resilience, hope, and the importance of compassion. Even in challenging circumstances, I learned to see the light in darkness. My family, especially my mom, has shown me the power of unconditional love and unwavering belief in others. After graduation, my primary goal is to work with vulnerable populations, particularly in mental health settings, where I can use my skills to provide advocacy, support, and guidance to those in need. I am committed to serving individuals facing similar challenges that I have encountered, hoping to offer them a sense of stability, encouragement, and hope for the future."

“Receiving this scholarship is an extraordinary support for my family and me as we navigate financial challenges, and it brings me closer to completing my MSW on time. Beyond the financial relief, this award is deeply empowering; it feels like an acknowledgment of the hard work and determination I have dedicated to this journey. My passion for social work is inspired by my father, who served as a State Trooper for over 30 years and embodied service in everything he did. He was a true helper in our community, and since his passing in 2022, I have felt an even stronger calling to follow his example. This scholarship not only allows me to finish my degree on time but also helps me carry forward my father's legacy by equipping me to serve families and youth with resilience and hope."
